Our guides will walk you through every step of the way, using the clues you gather at each location to point your way to the next. They’ll point in several directions, and it might get hard to keep track of where you’re supposed to go next. It won’t take long until, like any good mystery, you have a lot of pieces of information to sort through. Your job is to piece together information from various ruins left behind by a long-dead civilization all across the solar system. And not too long after that, the sun explodes and everything resets. You have access to an entire solar system right from the start. Our Outer Wilds beginner’s guide will get you started. It’s a purposefully obtuse game that rewards curiosity. It just doesn’t tell you why you’re exploring, what the mystery is, or even that there is a mystery. Outer Wilds is a game about exploration, puzzles, and solving a mystery. ![]()
